A CHENXIANGMU FIGURE OF ZHANG QIAN
18th century
Finely carved with the adventurer standing in his natural hollowed log
raft floating down the Yangzi river, supported by an independent base
carved as swirling waves, the bow tapering to a spout, the bearded
figure standing in the stern, the log boat wrapped with its gnarled
branches and pine needles.
