Acquired directly from the artist by Sister Nadine Tierney MM (1935-
2010)
Gifted to the present owner
As cited in the dedicatory inscription, the calligraphy was presented
to Sister Nadine Tierney, a nun with the Maryknoll Order, who taught
English at National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal
College in the early 1960’s. Among Sister Nadine’s English language
students was Dong Zuobin’s son, and the artist presented the
calligraphy to her as an expression of gratitude.
