A PAIR OF MASSIVE FAMILLE ROSE VASES
19th century
Each of baluster form beneath a foliate rim, painted in mirror image,
the body set either side with a large rectangular panel enclosing a
scene of scholars and warriors, a further figural panel to the neck,
enclosed within key scroll borders repeated around the foot, all
against a ground of flowers and fruit, the shoulders set with lion and
cub handles, with four chi dragons modelled in relief to the shoulders
extending over an overhanging foliate lip to the neck.
