A SET OF FINE SATSUMA ‘MONTH’ PLATES
By Kinkozan, Meiji Period
Each plate decorated in enamels and gilt with a circular panel
enclosing a figural scene associated with one of the 12 months on a
ground bordered by a band of dense millefleurs, each plate with two
overlapping shikishi (square-shaped poem-cards) indicating the name
of the month and its associated scene, impressed Kinkozan seal
mark to the base and the name of the month in English in gilt.

A FINE AND LARGE SATSUMA TAPERING OVIFORM VASE
Kinkozan, Meiji Period
Finely painted with vibrant enamels and gilt, the body with a central
decoration of a pigeon and dove perched on a cherry blossom tree,
below ink-style painted wild grass, the neck with ho-o amongst
trailing flowers, the foot with a gilt foliate band, Kinkozan mark to the
base.
