TWO RARE AND FINE IVORY SNUFF BOTTLES FOR THE
CHINESE MARKET
Japan, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
Of rectangular shape, facets of each snuff bottle are painted in
red and the other one in black, red facets portraying scenes with
persons, the black one - flowers and birds. Both with stopper and
ivory scoop. Both with the seal, apocryphal, four-character mark
of the Chinese Emperor Qianlong.

Asian Works of Art; Mon, Mar 19, 2012; NewYork; Lot. 9, Lot. 10. Cfr: see also

A FINE AND RARE BONE AND IVORY SNUFF BOTTLE
China, Qing dynasty (1644-1911)
Of trapezoid shape, in dark brown bone; in the center of one of
the flat facets an ivory frame painted with two figures in a
landscape; decorated on the back with gilded engraving
portraying an archaic, bronze vase.
