A WOOD FIGURE OF A
SEATED BUDDHA

LATE YUAN-EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH
CENTURY
The deity is depicted seated in dhyanasana,
with pendulous ears and eyes downcast to give
an impression of gentle contemplation. The
voluminous outer robe fallen in folds around
the base, the inner robe gathered across the
midriff revealing the bare chest.
