A GREYISH-WHITE JADE ‘DRAGON AND
PHOENIX’ RUYI
QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The head of the sceptre is finely carved with a crane grasping an
arrow in its beak in flight above a pavilion nestled amid billowing
clouds, surmounted by a phoenix carved in openwork. The arched
shaft is carved in high relief with a sinuous dragon in pursuit of a
flaming pearl. The stone is of an even pale greyish-white tone.
