A LARGE GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE
CENSER AND STAND
LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The globular body resting on a slightly countersunk base flanked
by a pair of handles in the form of mythical beast heads attached
with loose rings. The body is adorned with an array of irregular
gilt splashes. The base is cast with a hall mark reading Tiannian
tang zhi, 'Made for the Hall of Heavenly Years'. The circular
stand is pierced to the top with an aperture and raised on three
feet terminating in protruding roundels.
