A BAMBOO ‘DEER AND PINE’ LIBATION CUP
17th/18th century
Well carved after the form of a rhinoceros horn cup with a flared rim,
the exterior carved in high relief with stag and a doe below a gnarled
pine tree, the surface of the cup naturalistically carved with pine tree
bark, the base with a swirl, the interior plain with traces of lacquering.
