                                                             Early 19th century
                                                             Made for the Fifth Civil Rank, finely worked in subtle-shaded satin
                                                             stitch depicting the elegant bird gazing at the sun, perched upon a
                                                             rock amongst rolling waves, flanked by branches bearing nine large
                                                             auspicious peaches and blossoming peonies, all interspersed with
                                                             vaporous clouds and five bats on a midnight-blue ground within a gold
                                                             thread key-fret border.

                                                             A PAIR OF PEKING KNOT ‘SILVER PHEASANT’ SILK BADGES
                                                             19th century
                                                             Each Fifth Civil Rank badge finely worked in Peking knot depicting
                                                             the white bird perched on a pitted rock, gazing at the sun amongst
                                                             foaming waves and Auspicious Emblems, surrounded by bats
                                                             and blossoming lotus interspersed amidst lingzhi fungi, the border
                                                             decorated with bats and sinuous chilong confronting Shou medallions.
                                                             Each 30cm (11 7/8in) x 30cm (11 7/8in). (2).

                                                             A RARE SILK EMBROIDERED ‘GOLDEN PHEASANT’ BADGE
                                                             Yongzheng/Qianlong
                                                             Made for a civil official of the Second Rank, finely embroidered in multi-
                                                             coloured threads with the bird facing the sun as it alights onto a rock
                                                             emerging from green rolling waves interspersed with gold thread, all
                                                             within a border of sinuous trailing clouds executed in delicate blue and
                                                             green shades, framed and glazed.
                                                             The badge 28.5cm (11 2/8in) wide x 27cm (10 1/2in) long.
