           QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
           the straight-sides slightly stepped and domed cover
           decorated in green and aubergine enamels on a bright blue
           ground, with a central medallion of gilded bats in flight
           over a floral scroll ground, the straight-sided box similarly
           decorated and supported on four ruyi-shaped feet, the
           interior with a circular footed tray, surrounded by eight
           footed trays similarly decorated, the interior of the box and
           cover and the undersides of the trays enameled yellow
           (11)

                                                                      floral sprays, all reserved against a stone pattern ground, the
                                                                      white base enamelled in puce with a stylised peony
