           A WELL-CARVED WHITE JADE ARCHAISTIC CENSER AND COVER
           QIANLONG INCISED FOUR-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
           The censer is raised on a short, circular foot, and is carved on each side with a taotie mask below a monster
           mask carved in high relief between plain fanges on the waisted neck. The vessel is fanked by a pair of
           elaborate scroll handles issuing from stylized dragon heads. The domed cover is similarly carved with two
           taotie masks interrupted by fanges below a pierced fnial depicting a dragon grasping a faming pearl. The
           semi-translucent stone of pale greenish-white color has brown inclusions, primarily on one side.
