A PAIR OF CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON VASES AND COVERS
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY
Each vase has a high-shouldered, tapering body carved with a wide band of leafy flower scroll between
a band of narrow, upright chrysanthemum petals below and a band of peonies on the shoulder, and each
cover has a lotus bud-form knob above stepped petal bands and a diaper band at the rim, all under a glaze
of olive-green color that also covers the interior and base of the vases.
