RARE JARDINIERE EN JADE, CORAIL ET PIERRES DURES
CHINE, XIXEME-XXEME SIECLE
La jardinière quadrangulaire en bois est fnement sculptée d'oiseaux
sur des branchages dans un jardin rocailleux sur les côtés et porte
une inscription poétique signée Yi Gui avec un cachet. L'intérieur est à
décor de tiges recouvertes de cordes dorées en soie tenant des feurs
de lotus épanouies et ses feuillages, un papillon aux ailes déployées
reposant délicatement sur une tige.
Dimensions de la jardinière: 46,3 x 22,5 cm. (18º x 8√ in.)

were a popular form of ornament in the palaces, especially on festival

days. A related jardinière of lotus fowers, this time presented in a red-
glazed porcelain jardiniere, is in the collection of the Palace Museum,
Beijing (fg.1.) (inventory number: Gu00126615). The extremely
refned craftsmanship on the butterfy is very close to some of the
jewellery from the Qing palace collection, see a very similiarly related
butterfy hairpin, also in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing
(inventory number: Gu00009742).
