CHINE, DYNASTIE SUI (581-618)
Il représente un soldat debout, les bras le long du corps. Il est vêtu
d'un long manteau droit de couleur verte légèrement entrouvert. Il
est chaussé de bottes et porte un casque qui lui couvre la nuque. Ses
yeux sont exorbités lui donnant un air efrayant. Il porte une longue
barbe. Certains détails de son visage sont peints.

PROVENANCE:
Belgian private collection, acquired from Gisèle Cröes, Brussels, in
1989.
This rare large fgure is similar to one in the Tenri Sankokan Museum,
Japan, illustrated by W. Watson, Tang and Liao Ceramics, New York,
1984, p. 211, no. 231, where the fgure is described as Central Asian.
Another similar large fgure in the Shanghai Museum is illustrated by
J. Fontein and R. Hempel, China, Korea, Japan, Berlin, 1968, pl. 128.
The dating is consistent with the Oxford Authentifcation
thermoluminescence test no. 466d30.

Il est représenté debout, vêtu d'une armure courte. Sa main droite
est relevée, son poing fermé tenait originellement une arme. Le
bras gauche est tendu le long de son corps. Il est coifé d'un casque.
L'expression de son visage est menaçante ; restaurations.
