A RARE CLOISONNÉ AND CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMEL ‘GRAPEVINE’ The bunches of grapes decorating the incense burner are superbly

16th/17th century alternating with the green-coloured still-ripening fruit, all borne on gnarled
Well cast with a compressed globular body rising to a short waisted vines amidst large leaves subtly enamelled to convey their different sides
neck and galleried mouth-rim, all supported on three short legs issuing
from gilt-bronze mythical beast masks and terminating with gilt-bronze and maturity. Such design can be seen in cloisonné enamel from the early
claws, the sides flanked by a pair of handles, each with a floral bloom Ming dynasty vessels (often with later added gilt-bronze mounts, handles
partially enclosed with multi-coloured leaves and suspending a loose and feet); see in the Qing Court Collection, Compendium of Collections in
ring, the turquoise-ground exterior of the body and legs brightly the Palace Museum: Enamels 1, Beijing, 2011, nos.38-45.

a key-fret band repeated at the rim of the domed cover, the cover dated to the first half of the 17th century, with a similar design of
similarly enamelled with grapes and surmounted by a pierced gilt-

此爐飾葡萄紋,紋飾舒朗,色彩寫實,特別在枝葉的處理上運用了暈
染的技法,增加了藝術效果,這類技法在少數明代早期的掐絲琺瑯器
上可見,如北京故宮藏數件明早期掐絲琺瑯葡萄紋爐,大部分耳、
足及款均為後配,著錄於《故宮博物院藏品大系:琺瑯器編1》,北
京,2011年,編號38至45
