A PALE CELADON JADE BUDDHIST LION
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)

清康熙 青白玉瑞獸把件

The recumbent beast is carved with its head turned over its back
and tail ficked over its haunches, its prominent back bone and
facial details are all fnely carved and incised. The stone is of a pale
celadon tone with cloudy white fecks and pale russet inclusions.

              The crested bird is carved with its wings tucked to its sides, the characters for the sun and moon, ri and
              yue, are incised on its back, and its feathers are fnely detailed. The underside of the base has a raised
              section pierced with three pairs of holes.
