                                                                                       The design of dragons chasing faming pearls seen on the current jar is
The jar is intricately carved and pierced around the exterior with four sinuous        exceptionally intricately rendered with deeply pierced and carved scrolling
chilong crouching upon scrolling clouds, contesting two faming pearls. The             clouds and incredibly fne dragons’ whiskers and horns. Compare this style of
domed cover is carved with a further coiled chilong. The stone is of very pale         carving to a similar ‘dragon and pearl’ design on a white jade vase from the
even tone with a few minor mottled inclusions to the base.                             Qing Court Collection, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of
