Each vase is boldly decorated with a pair of phoenix in fight amidst multi-
coloured clouds watched from the terrace of a pavilion by a scholar oficial
accompanied by an elegant lady playing an instrument. The reverse is further
embellished with ladies in a rocky garden setting with bamboo. The covers are
decorated with boys at play.
The vases 13Ω in. (34.3 cm.) high, with two 19th century covers (2)
