180 A LARGE PAINTED ENAMEL BASIN
18TH CENTURY
The basin is decorated in the center of
the interior with a pair of mandarin ducks
swimming amidst a lush waterscape, with
blossoming peony branches growing from
rocks, all within an hexalobed cartouche
reserved on a green, foral scroll ground.
The interior and exterior of the well are
similarly decorated with dragons striding
amidst turbulent waves and rocks, and the
fat, foliate rim is decorated with leafy foral
meander. The base is decorated with a spray
of two peaches and two strawberries.

A LARGE PAINTED ENAMEL BASIN
18TH CENTURY
The basin is brightly painted in the center of
the interior with ladies and children amongst
elaborate pavilions in a garden by a lotus
pond, and the well with dragons and carp
leaping from cresting waves, below shaped
cartouches enclosing fruiting and fowering
sprays reserved on a ground of foral scrolls
on the fat, petal-barbed rim. The exterior
and base are decorated with stylized kui
dragon scrolls.
