                A BLUE AND WHITE COVER
                JIAJING PERIOD (1522-1566)

               The domed cover is well painted in a rich purplish-blue tone with
               boys in a landscape engaged in various activities, encircled by a band
               of classic scrolls on the rim. The fnial is in the form of a lotus bud.
               8 in. (20 cm.) diam.

           A BLUE AND WHITE JAR AND A COVER
           WANLI PERIOD (1573-1619)

           The body is painted in deep cobalt-blue with shaped cartouches of
           foral sprays growing amidst rocks, and the shoulder with shaped
           panels of blossoming branches separated by four animal masks,
           reserved on a diaper band. The cover is decorated with three panels
           enclosing foral branches, also on a diaper ground.
