A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE SLEEVE VASE
17TH CENTURY

The tapering, cylindrical vase is decorated
in rich underglaze blue with a group of fve
immortals standing on the shore of a river
in a continuous river landscape as they look
up at Shoulao seated on a crane in fight
amidst clouds above. In the background a
recumbent deer is seen in a rocky grotto
behind a screen and beside a low table
set with a wine pot and cup, all below
a herringbone border and three fower
vignettes on the neck.
