A WELL-CARVED WHITE JADE BOWL

18TH CENTURY

The bowl with fared sides is raised on four curved supports surrounded by the bottom of the
scene of a lotus pond carved in low relief around the sides. The pond is detailed with lotus
plants growing from the rippling waters, and a swallow is shown in fight above. The bottom
of the interior is carved in high relief with a blossoming tree branch, which incorporates a pale
brown vein in the carving. The semi-transparent stone is of pale greenish-white color.
