A COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF
SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA INLAID WITH
SILVER AND COPPER
Tibet, 13th Century
the deity seated in dhyanasana with his left hand
gently placed in bhumisparsa mudra and his right
hand actively in dhyana mudra, with finger nails
embellished with inlaid copper, his articulated
features including heavily incised eyebrows and
almond shaped eyes embellished with silver
and copper, with weighted elongated earlobes,
lips of copper pursed in a relaxed smile, and
hair arranged in tight curls with a stupa-shaped
ushnisha
