AN EMBROIDERED BLUE SILK GAUZE ‘NINE DRAGON’ ROBE
Guangxu period
Couched with nine dragons in gold-wrapped threads, against an
embroidered ground of auspicious emblems and clouds in polychrome
threads, all bordered by lishui stripes and terrestrial diagrams emerging
from churning waves, the sleeves terminating in horse-hoof cuffs, the
collar band and cuffs similarly embroidered.
