A TURQUOISE-ENAMELED RETICULATED PORCELAIN SNUFF
BOTTLE
JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1820-1870
The bottle is molded in high relief with a fve-clawed dragon
pursuing a faming pearl against an openwork ground of clouds and
fames that encase the inner walls, all in turquoise enamel and the eyes
picked out in black.

A CARVED RED AND GOLD LACQUER SNUFF BOTTLE
JAPAN, 1850-1910
Each side is carved with a tapering oval panel, one enclosing a scene
of Zhong Kui (Shoki in Japan), the Demon Queller, subduing a
demon with his sword, the other with an immortal standing atop
a carp as it swims in the sea, all surrounded by two gold dragons
205 chasing a faming pearl amidst scrolling clouds between key-fret
borders.
