Mrs. Henry Mazot, in Beijing in the 1930s.  Lots 15 to 43 are part of a collection of
The family house in Beijing in the 1930s.
                                            Chinese art that was formed in China by
                                            a French gentleman during the frst half
                                            of the 20th century. Henry Mazot (1882-
                                            1956) had arrived in Beijing in the early
                                            1920s to work at the Beijing ofice of the
                                            Banque d’Indochine of which he fnished
                                            by being head of. He spent more than 25
                                            years in Beijing with his wife and their
                                            three daughters where they enjoyed a
                                            comfortable lifestyle among the French
                                            community with large residences in Beijing
                                            and at the countryside. When he came back
                                            to France in 1946 he proudly displayed his
                                            collection in his old familial mansion in
                                            Normandy. Some of his full trunks brought
                                            back from China had never been opened
                                            until today.

BRULE-PARFUM COUVERT EN BRONZE
CHINE, XVIIEME SIECLE

De section rectangulaire, il repose sur quatre pieds à décor de tête de
chimère. Flanqué par deux anses en forme de tête d’animal mythique,
la panse est ornée d’une scène continue de créatures fantastiques
émergeant des fots tumultueux. Le couvercle ajouré, surmonté
d’une prise ovale, est agrémenté de deux paires de phénix et dragons
volant parmi des nuages. La base porte une marque apocryphe de
l’empereur Xuande.
