A RARE HUANGHUALI COMPOUND CABINET AND HAT CHEST,
SIJIANGUI
CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
清十九世紀 黃花梨四件櫃
來源:歐洲私人珍藏, 於1973年12月28日購自紐約著名古董商安思遠
The present cabinet is unusual for its diminutive size. Typically,
cabinets of this type are known for their massive size and are
constructed with a fush frame. However, variations on this type are
known. Compare, for example, the huanghuali compound cabinet
and hat chest of similar construction, although of more elongated
form, illustrated by G. Ecke in Chinese Domestic Furniture, Vermont
and Tokyo, 1962, p. 134, no. 106. See, also, a rare small huanghuali
compound cabinet and hat chest, from the Arthur M. Sackler
Collection, measuring 95.3 cm. high, sold at Christie’s New York,
18 March 2009, lot 373.
Purchase invoice in 1973.
