QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
the narrow, rectangular T-shaped box comprised of thin panels
of attractively- gured wood and beaded rims, with baitong
mounts reinforcing the upper corners and sides, a circular lock
plate and cloud-headed hasp to the front, rectangular hinges at
the back joining the cover to the box, the interior with a tted
tray and two small compartments at either end, the wood of a
rich amber color

A ‘HUANGHUALI’ FOLDING DRUM STAND
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
comprised of four slender cylindrical members, three with
splayed ends forming the feet joined to a shorter, straight
central pole by a single stretcher forming the support for a
drum when open and with double stretchers with vertical
struts below, the hinges formed by metal-pinned slats tted
through the stretchers
