QING DYNASTY
naturalistically carved in the form of a hollowed conch, the top with a
perching frog and a sh emerging from crashing waves, the interior
covered in red lacquer with traces of gilt, the wood of a dark reddish-
brown color with a lustrous patina

the inkstone of rectangular form, the top with a grinding surface leading
to a recessed well, framed by a slightly raised border, the underside with
a slightly recessed base, the smoothly polished stone of a dark green
color, the conforming box and cover with the straight sides rising from
four low bracket feet to a slightly rounded top, the densely grained wood
of a dark reddish-brown color (3)
