QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
each nely cast and decorated in mirror image, the front of
each slightly convex, conveying the rounded auspicious form
of a double-gourd vase, the ‘stand’ supporting the vessel
cleverly angled to enhance the illusion of depth, the surface a
delicate meander of leafy vines in- lled with turquoise and dark
blue enamels, suspending thirteen double-gourds; in agate,
turquoise, coral, rose quartz, amber, aubergine-colored glass,
jade, and lapis lazuli, set between bands of keyfret along the
base and rim and raised on a waisted cabriole-leg stand, the
reverse at, and chased with an elegant lea ng peony scroll
against a stippled ground, a T-form aperture for hanging (2)
