          A CARVED BISCUIT RECTANGULAR BASIN                  The fne carving on this rare biscuit basin is comparable to that seen on
          DAOGUANG PERIOD (1821-1850)                         several studio items illustrated by T. Miller and H. Hui, Elegance in Relief:

          The basin is raised on four bracket supports, one long side is fnely decorated

          in relief with two dragonfies in fight beside a lotus plant and grasses, the
                                                              paperweight carved with a branch of peaches; no. 136, a curved brush
          other side with blossoming peony and a bird, while the ends are decorated
                                                              washer decorated on each side with diferent fowers; and no. 137, a square
          with fruiting peach and pomegranate branches.

          13Ω in. (34.1 cm.) long, Japanese wood box          fowers. All three are dated Daoguang (1821-1850) to Guangxu (1875-1908).
                                                              On p. 286, the authors note that studio items produced during the Daoguang
