                        the production was organised by a craft guild called hall of lingsitang (灵思堂). The


                        date  of  establishing  of  this  guild  was  in  1778,  and  it  still  existed  until  the  early

                        twentieth century.   In a painting of depicting the production of porcelain from the

                        collection  of  Victoria  and  Albert  Museum,  Lingsitang  appeared  in  a  scene  of


                        enamelling. (Figure 6-7) This painting is from a set of 24 depicting the porcelain

                        industry in China. Paintings such as this were targeted at Europeans eager to find out

                        the secrets of porcelain manufacture in China.
