Carved naturalistically as a pine trunk section with branches in low
relief to the exterior, the stone of a greyish tone with deep ochre
inclusions, cleverly worked into the design.

AN AGATE ‘PRUNUS TRUNK’ BRUSH HOLDER
The semi-translucent stone of a grey and russet tone, with a large
crystalline inclusion to the side, carved in shallow relief as a tree trunk
flanked by gnarled, flowering branches of prunus.

Late Qing Dynasty or later
Modelled as a pea pod hanging from a gnarled, leafy tendril and
flanked by a smaller pod, the interior with two peas, the side later
incised ‘yu wan’.
