The ape seated, trying to restrain the giant crab which is nipping one The large nut with a large hole broken open to one side, through which
hand, the wood slightly worn and the eyes inlaid. the monkey climbs out, two large leaves carved in relief below, the
wood lightly stained and the eyes inlaid with pale translucent horn.
The work of the maker is relatively rare and only one other example is
recorded, a monkey group in Lazarnick, NIA, p.1157.
