Of upright form, bearing a rich roiro ground,
lacquered in black relief with two dragons in
dispute amid swirling clouds, the interior of
nashiji with kinji edges.

竹林七賢図堆黒印籠 無銘 19世紀

Carved in relief on the rinzu (diaper)
ground with the seven Chinese scholars
of the bamboo grove conversing beneath
overhanging pine branches, with fallen
bamboo leaves at their feet, the top and base
similarly carved with chrysanthemums and the
interior of black lacquer; with a gold-lacquered
ojime.
