A BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ DISH
JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE
AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
The dish has shallow rounded sides that rise to a slightly fared rim. The
interior is decorated with two fve-clawed dragons contesting a faming pearl
amidst ruyi clouds and fames within a double line border, and the exterior is
decorated with birds amidst four fruiting or fowering branches.
