ZHU ANGZHI (1764-AFTER 1841)
                 Who used courtesy names Qingli and Jinli, was a native of Wujin,
                 Jiangsu Province. His father Zhu Wenrong was juren (a scholar’s
                 rank for people who passed the imperial examination on the county
                 level) during the Qianlong reign (1735-1796) and was famous for his
                 landscape paintings in the style of Huang Gongwang, as well as his ink
                 peonies. Zhu Angzhi inherited and surpassed his father’s expertise. His
                 calligraphy followed the style of Dong Qichang and excelled in running
                 and cursive scripts, while his paintings shows great influences from
                 the early Qing masters Yun Shouping and Wang Hui. His paintings of
                 flowers, bamboos and rocks are exceptionally delicate and elegant.
                 Some of his masterpieces that have survived include the scroll of
                 “Waterfall Among Clouds” (1835) in the collection of the Guangzhou
                 Museum of Art and the fan leaf of “Landscape after Mi Fei” in the
                 collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing.
                 朱昂之(1764-1841後)
                 字青立,又字津里。江蘇武進人。其父朱文嶸為乾隆間舉人,山水以
                 學黃公望名,並擅水墨牡丹。朱昂之幼承家學,青出於藍。其書學董
                 其昌,行草筆墨精妙。其畫尤得南田、石谷筆意,行筆勁峭,盡脫蹊
                 徑。有論謂其中年臨古之作,有筆有墨,深得古人神髓。花卉竹石皆
                 清雅秀逸。傳世作品有現藏於廣州藝術博物院之〈雲巒飛瀑〉圖軸及
                 現藏於故宮博物院的〈仿米山水〉扇面等。
