TANG LUMING (1804-1874)
Used the courtesy name Lemin, a native of Wujin (now Changzhou),
Jiangsu Province, and lived in Jinling (now Nanjing). The fourth son of
Tang Yifen, Tang Luming was an official in charge of salt transportation
in the Huai River area. He excelled in fine line figure paintings that
approached Li Gonglin’s work in elegance. He used old xuan paper to
paint beauty figures, and captured the beauty and elegant appearance
of women resting in peaceful surroundings. Tang’s paintings of flowers
and fruits were graceful and rich. He made many sketches of birds
and fish. Those who were knowledgeable deemed his paintings to be
                 above Fei Danxu’s in quality.
