HEXAGONAL LANTERN

KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)

Each bowed side is painted with a scene from
Romance of the Western Chamber, between
borders of auspicious emblems reserved on a
diaper ground, all below a fared, openwork
crown and raised on a matching foot.

lantern, also with bowed shape and reticulated
faring crown and foot, is in the Morgan
