A WHITE JADE ‘CHILONG’ HANGING VASE
AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, LATE 19TH CENTURY
the flattened pear-shaped body rising from a flared foot
to an everted rim, flanked by a pair of dragon handles
suspending loose rings extended to form a chained handle,
the exterior worked in high relief with five clambering
chilongs, surmounted by a domed cover with a finial formed
from intertwining chilongs with lingzhi sprigs in their mouths,
the stone of an even white tone
