A BLUE AND WHITE MONK’S CAP EWER,
SENGMAOHU
QING DYNASTY, 18TH – 19TH CENTURY
of characteristic shape, the globular body surmounted by an
everted neck and flanged rim resembling a gelupta monk’s
hat, set with a loop handle with a ruyi terminal, decorated
around the body with scrolling flowers in between borders
of ruyi and lappets encircling the base, flower sprays and
butterfly on the neck, clouds on the spout and ruyi scrolls on
the rim and handle
