           The hollow wood and molded lacquer figure dressed in the robes,   The largest a coral carving of a young boy holding a basket of flowers

           A POLYCHROME WOOD DAOIST ATTENDANT FIGURE
           Qing dynasty
           Dressed in an official’s crown and layered garments as he stands
           on a rocky plinth fronted with a peak-shaped tablet, the scroll he
           holds possibly identifying him as one of the attendants to the god of
           literature, Wenchang dijun; the worn surfaces showing later additions
           of gold paint over traces of red lacquer (repairs, wear).
