The curved, beaded top rail with elegant shaped terminals repeated
as the arm rest ends and set over a plain back splat joined to a hard
seat covered with matting butted to shaped beaded aprons half
lapped to tubular supports.

A PAIR OF SPOTTED BAMBOO HORSESHOE-BACK ARM

Late Qing/Republic period
Each with a graceful U-form back, supported on a rectangular
back splat with latticed geometric designs, the black-lacquered
softwood seat framed by stacked bamboo, fitted within posts
further strengthened by arched braces and horizontal stretchers; the
spotted bamboo with traces of red-toned lacquer to the inside of the
supports.
