Dressed in royal attire, seated in the typical posture of dhyana and
holding his hand in the mudra of bhumisparsha, raised upon a multi-
tiered triangular plinth.

A GILT AND POLYCHROME LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF
THE BUDDHA
Thailand, Bangkok period, 19th/early 20th century
Seated in meditation with his right hand lowered in bhumisparsha
mudra, the surfaces of his monk’s robes and the elaborately stepped
base cast with intricate flower and geometric patterns visible beneath
the worn layers of red and gold lacquer, a bronze loop at the back
6017 of the stand meant to hold an umbrella and a hole at the top of the
ushnisha meant to hold a flame, both no longer preserved (losses,
wear to lacquer).

a ‘walking Buddha,’ the second depicting the Buddha in traditional

Surmounted by a flaming ushnisha atop a mound of tight hair curls
atop a peaceful expression rendered in a Sukhothai style framed by
long earlobes; now raised atop a tapered square section plinth.
