Surmounted by a crown-shaped mouth MANJUSRI
adorned in semi-precious cabochons and 19th century
fronted by an elaborate depiction of Durga Here depicted in his Krsna Manjughosa
Mahishasura, the tapered cylindrical sides or ‘Black Manjusri’ incarnation, displaying
adorned in reticulated reserves of apsaras the standard iconography of an upheld
and kirtimukha and supporting a dragon-form flaming sword and a separately cast frond of
handle opposing a flared spout supporting a lotuses meant to support a book over his left
depiction of a deity emerging from the mouth shoulder, the skin of the figure tinted black
of a makara. and displaying a fearsome expression with
18in (46cm) high third eye below a crown of grinning skulls
fronting a shock of flame-like hair, raised atop

cast crown and tassels, holding a flaming
sword aloft in his right hand while his left
is held in front of him in the vitarkamudra,
raised atop a double lotus plinth sealed by a
visvajra.
