With pinecone fnial, painted allover with sprigs
of peony, fanked by scroll handles with leafy

The asymmetrical shapes and natural world
ornament of the rococo were quite fashionable in
Chinese export porcelain for several decades of
the 18th century. Originally inspired by European
silver, the forms were then made in European
faience and Chinese export. More rococo sauce
tureens are known than soup tureens, which are
relatively rare.
