‘LOTUS’ DISH
Early Ming Dynasty, 14th/15th century and
15th century
The bowl freely carved to the exterior with
undulating leafy lotus sprays, the interior
with a wave motif frieze beneath a trellis and
blossom band at the rim; the dish boldly
carved with a single large lotus spray to the
centre, covered in an unctuous sea-green
glaze. The dish: 35cm (13 3/4in) diam. (2).

The censer raised on three conical feet, the
compressed body with trigram decoration
between two bands of raised bosses, a pair
of rope-twist handles at the rim; the dish with
shallow rounded sides and a broad everted
rim, the interior carved with lotus sprays,
the lipped rim with a wave design. The dish:
34.9cm (13 3/4in) diam. (2).
