The first, comprising a gnarled section of
rootwood, of the rich orange-brown hue,
the second carved in the Ming-style as three
reticulated craggy peaks.

Qing Dynasty
Comprising: a cicada-form wrist rest bearing
archaistic characters and mounted as wall
hanging; another with a detachable, once
hinged, rectangular figural scene opening
to reveal a shallow compartment below, the
panel further engraved with two characters;
a turned bowl and a smaller bowl carved in
four panels with the eight Buddhist emblems.
The cicada 13.5cm (5 1/4in) high (5).
