A DEHUA FIGURE OF
SEATED GUANYIN
LATE MING DYNASTY,
17TH CENTURY
The bodhisattva is shown seated in
rajalilasana on a rockwork throne with
right hand resting on her knee and wearing
voluminous robes, a beaded necklace and a
cowl draped above her foral-scroll tiara.

Compare the Dehua fgure of Guanyin
seated in a similar pose on a rockwork
throne, also wearing full robes and a cowl
over her hair, of comparable size (9¬ in.),

Collection, Ringling Museum of Art,
